We include home/hotel pickup & transfers from many areas at the start and end of your tour. Additionally, we offer return flight packages which include door to door service / home pickup & return from a wide range of areas. Tours include all listed accommodation, sights (unless explicitly described as an optional extra), dinners and cooked breakfasts. All prices are based on share twin accommodation. Single supplements are available.

In the event your area is not included in the tour price, Gold Club Tours can take your address details and advise potential arrangements and any related charge – when possible it will be provided for free.

Gold Club Tours offers a door-to-door service from a wide range of areas throughout New Zealand.

Flight packages – contact for us quote. Including FREE door-to-door from most areas.
Door-to-door: Day 1 – home/hotel pickup and taken to airport to join flight, met on arrival and transfer to join tour. Last day – taken to airport, join flight, on arrival guest(s) met and returned to their home/hotel.

Flights

Return flight from Christchurch & home/hotel return included in tour price from the above listed pickup locations. Typically, guests fly to the airport closest to their home return area, although this may vary in some instances. Guests who wish to have specific requests catered to, such as direct vs connecting flights, specific flight times or specific airports, alternative locations, alternative dates etc. may incur additional charges (wherever possible we do not charge additional).

Guests are welcome to make their own return travel arrangements and are eligible for a discount of $100 per person per flight should they elect to do this (Guests making their own return travel arrangements would conclude their tour in Christchurch, with a transfer to a nominated address in Christchurch included. Gold Club Tours must be advised at time of booking).

Travel Insurance

Gold Club Tours always recommend that guests take out travel insurance. This is important whether it is for international or domestic travel. In the event you are unable to travel before or during a tour, cancellation terms apply – take out insurance to protect yourself.

Day 1

Auckland to Brisbane

Today you are picked up from your home and transferred to Auckland International Airport. On arrival, we’re transferred to our centrally located hotel, where you’ll have time to settle in before joining your fellow travellers for dinner.

Day 2

Brisbane City Sights & Leisure

After breakfast, we set off to discover the highlights of Brisbane on a comfortable city sights tour, offering a wonderful overview of this fast-growing yet laid-back riverside city. See key landmarks, leafy streets, and riverfront precincts that blend modern life with colonial charm. Following the tour, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You might like to take a relaxing stroll through South Bank Parklands, explore the renowned Botanic Gardens, or perhaps indulge in a little retail therapy at Queen Street Mall. 

Day 3

Brisbane River Cruise, Flight to Emerald

This morning we enjoy a scenic river cruise — a relaxed and charming way to experience Brisbane from the water. Settle in with a beautiful morning tea as we drift past some of the city’s most iconic riverside sights. Our captain will share local stories and fascinating commentary, painting a picture of Brisbane’s past and present. After disembarking, you’ll have free time to enjoy the city at your leisure. Perhaps take in a gallery, visit a riverside café for lunch, or simply soak up the sunshine in a park. 

In the afternoon, we transfer to Brisbane Airport and board our short domestic flight to Emerald, a relaxed rural town set in the heart of Central Queensland. We check into our hotel before dinner.

Spirit of the Outback Train to Longreach

Today we step aboard the legendary Spirit of the Outback, one of Australia’s classic rail journeys. Settle into your seat and watch the world roll by as we travel through Queensland’s dramatic and ever-changing inland landscapes. On arrival in Longreach, we are transferred to our charming, heritage-inspired accommodation hosted by Outback Pioneers who give us a a warm country welcome. Then enjoy a relaxed dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Cobb & Co Stagecoach, Thomson River Cruise & Captain Starlight’s Sound & Light Picture Show

Today we step back in time to the early days of outback travel with the Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience. Ride along part of the original Longreach to Windorah mail route — a thrilling glimpse into pioneer life. Afterwards, enjoy home-baked scones and tea, followed by a classic Australian film in the charming tearoom theatre. Later, sit back and be entertained by the fun-filled Old Time Tent Show, accompanied by a hearty billy-can lunch. There’s time to browse the fascinating Station Store emporium, filled with gifts, books, and rural treasures. As the sun sets, we head to the banks of the Thomson River for the spectacular Starlight’s Cruise Experience. Cruise gently along the water before enjoying a stockman’s campfire dinner, bush poetry under the stars, and the Starlight’s Sound & Light Picture Show — a magical evening in true outback style. 

Day 6

Nogo Station & Qantas Founders Museum

This morning, we head out on the Nogo Station Experience. Hosted by Outback Pioneers, this tour offers a wonderful insight into life on a working station. See the historic wool sheds, visit the stockyards of the legendary Captain Starlight, and journey across open country in a double-decker open-top bus, spotting wildlife and learning about the challenges of outback life. Enjoy a Saddlebag lunch and billy tea around the gidgee campfire. In the afternoon, we visit the iconic Qantas Founders Museum — birthplace of Australia’s national airline. Take a guided Airpark Tour, where you can explore historic aircraft and hear stories of innovation and adventure in early aviation. This evening, we dine at The Welcome Home restaurant, enjoying the Stonegrill Experience — a memorable meal and a unique dining style.

Day 7

Winton Discovery Day

We set off on a day trip to Winton, travelling through the rugged and striking landscapes that define outback Queensland. Our first stop is the award-winning Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum, perched on a scenic mesa overlooking a vast plain. Explore the fascinating exhibits and stroll through Dinosaur Canyon, home to life-size reconstructions and real fossil finds. Later, we visit the famous Waltzing Matilda Centre, dedicated to Australia’s most iconic ballad and the cultural spirit of the bush. We break for a delicious lunch at the historic North Gregory Hotel, before a relaxed afternoon exploring more of Winton’s unique character. On our return to Longreach, we gather for another generous Country Classics dinner at The Welcome Home.

Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame

Start your morning with a gourmet continental breakfast in your room, then enjoy a relaxed visit to the acclaimed Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. This world-class museum celebrates the pioneers of the outback through five captivating galleries filled with stories, artefacts, and interactive exhibits. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure — perhaps take a stroll down Longreach’s Eagle Street, relax with a cuppa, or take in the town’s country charm. 

Day 9

Longreach to Brisbane

After breakfast, we bid farewell to Longreach and transfer to the airport for our flight back to Brisbane. Upon arrival, we return to our hotel for a final night together.

This evening, enjoy a farewell group dinner, sharing laughs and stories from the unforgettable days we’ve spent exploring the heart and soul of outback Queensland.

Day 10

Brisbane to Auckland

Sadly, today marks the end of our wonderful Queensland adventure. This morning it is time to transfer to Brisbane Airport for your return flight to Auckland. On arrival, you will be met and returned to your home with our Gold Club door-to-door service.
